Pomona Impact believes in investment as a tool to generate economic development, and we are also conscious of the importance of alliances and how building a strong community will allow to create synergies and reach a common goal. Because we believe in this, we organized the AgTech 2017 Accelerator: Promoting entrepreneurial solutions to foment the preservation of natural resources.
As part of our AgTech Program, we developed this Accelerator that comprised key organizations from the forest and agriculture sector, with the objective of promoting alliances and exploring what different organizations are doing in the sector.
The workshop was divided into two sessions:
Session 1: Jun 21, 22 and 23
Session 2: July 12, 13 and 14
During the program, we challenged the participants to "Think Outside the Box", how to use the tools of the free market to be able to support what the participants are doing within their organizations. We were able to do this through teaching different entrepreneurial tools and the participation of speakers that shared new alternatives that the organizations can use in their daily operations.
The event concluded with a Venture Day, in which the organizations presented their proposals, and an audience comprised by members of different organizations from the entrepreneurial sector and environmental protection attended this event to provide feedback and create new network connections. The participants in the program were the following organizations:
- Escuela Agrícola Panamericana, Zamorano
- Municipalidad de Cobán
- Asociación SERES
- Reserva Natural Atitlán
- Heifer International Guatemala
- Rainforest Alliance
- FUNDACIÓN PARA LA CONSERVACIÓN EN GUATEMALA
- Fundación Naturaleza para la Vida
- Fundación ProPetén
