What we do
The Pomona Impact Fund II ("Fund II")
is a dedicated investment vehicle that focuses on supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operating in the Agriculture/Agri-processing, Basic Goods & Services (Energy, Water, Education, Health, and Housing), and Digital Economy sectors. These sectors have the potential to generate significant social and environmental impact on a large scale. While Fund II primarily concentrates its investments in Central America, allocating 80% of its portfolio to the region, it also actively considers strategic co-investments in Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador.
One of the key objectives
of Fund II is to provide financing solutions to companies in the “missing middle” category—those that have outgrown microfinance institutions but are not yet deemed bankable. To achieve this, the fund employs a flexible approach to investment structuring, utilizing mezzanine/venture debt instruments. This enables Fund II to target high-growth and high-impact sectors, such as those mentioned earlier.
With a fund size of $30 million
Fund II has attracted a roster of prestigious investors. This includes entities like FONPRODE/COFIDES from the government of Spain, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), as well as esteemed local and international family offices such as Blue Towers and Blink. Additionally, Fund II has garnered support from various local and international NGOs, as well as local and international HINI.
